Este trabajo ofrece una visión de las condiciones regionales y los factores más importantes que han afectado el desarrollo de la producción lechera de Coto Brus. El área ofrece algunas ventajas para su producción, sin embargo, la orientación de las inversiones y la valoración de las condiciones socio-económicas no permitieron la obtención de los índices esperados.
SUMMARY
This article offers a vision of general regional conditions and emphasizes the most important factors that have affected the development of the milk production in the Coto Brus region of Costa Rica. This area offers some advantages; nevertheless, the orientations of investments and the evaluation of the social economical conditions did not permit the obtention of expected indexes in the milk production.
RESUME
Ce travail présente les conditions régionales et les facteurs les plus importants qui ont permis le développement du secteur laitier en Coto Brus, au Pacifique Sud. Bien que cette zone offre certains avantages pour cette activité, les investissements portent sur d’autres secteurs. Ceci, ajouté á que les conditions socio-économique n’ont pas permis d’atteindre les résultats espérés.
