Focus and Scope

The National University of Costa Rica has a history of almost 30 years in the field of Marine Sciences, producing scientific documents, but with limited options for projecting knowledge in the marine field. In response to the need to offer national and international researchers a space for high-level scientific dissemination, annual publication and broad vision, the creation of the Journal of Marine and Coastal Sciences (REVMAR). The purpose of this journal is to incorporate original publications related to marine sciences, such as: biology, geology and marine ecology, evolution, systematics and taxonomy of marine organisms, oceanography, pollution, fisheries, mariculture, marine biotechnology, conservation and integrated management of marine and coastal resources. REVMAR will be made available in printed form annually, with a corresponding digital version on its website, developed appropriately for this purpose. The Review has an Editorial Committee made up of researchers from different Latin American institutions, who have great intellectual prestige in the field of marine and coastal sciences and are responsible for ensuring the scientific quality of the papers published.

MISSION

The Journal of Marine and Coastal Sciences responds to the need to offer researchers in the national and international community a space for the dissemination of high-level science, with annual production, which includes unpublished works in marine sciences of a scientific nature and also aspects related to the management of marine and coastal resources.

VISION

The Journal of Marine and Coastal Sciences is a space for the dissemination of scientific knowledge of the highest level with projection in the national and international scientific environment.


GENERAL OBJECTIVE

Establish the Marine and Coastal Science Review as an alternative for the popularization of science that provides national and international researchers with an option of high level of quality and rigor and that through its incorporation in indexed databases, promotes its maximum scope and visibility.

Specific Objective

To reach and systematize the annual publications of the journal, in a way that facilitates and standardizes the production process, but fundamentally to achieve greater degrees of credibility in the international scientific community.
