Educational Practices in Human Rights Education for Teacher Training

Objectives. This article presents the results of the research project The education in values and human rights in the study plans to train teachers at the University of Costa Rica, whose general objective was to analyze the incorporation of education in values and Humans rights in study plans for teacher training at the University of Costa Rica. Methodology. The research project was developed from a qualitative approach. The participants were coordinators and students enrolled in Education majors, and the information was collected through focus groups. Results. The results obtained from this study were five educational practices proposed for the promotion of education in values and human rights in teacher training: (1) a methodology and classroom didactics for teacher training; (2) inclusion of tours and professional practices within the teacher training; (3) teacher-student relationship in teacher training for education in human rights; (4) sensitization of teachers and students about the relevance of education in human rights; and (5) continuous review of teacher training curricula. Conclusions. Among the conclusions, the work of university teachers in teacher training stands out.
