This paper addresses the different criteria for documentation and bibliographic citation of the ninth edition (2021) of the Manual of Style of the Modern Language Association (MLA), where, in addition to considering citations within a document and the section entitled "Works Cited", it also explores different guidelines in relation to inclusive language, bibliographical sources, endnotes, the correct use of orthography and the avoidance of plagiarism. In short, this essay is proposed as a useful guide for professionals in library science, editors, professors, students, and researchers in the fields of literature, arts, and humanities to write clearly and consistently, both within a manuscript and in the aforementioned works cited section.
