She was a visionary woman, with a desire to generate opportunities for all people, and was very surprised when she was told that the "library of the little train" would carry her name. For her social and educational work with the Heredian community: older adults, women's groups and children, in 2011 the Municipality of Heredia awarded her the "Esmeralda Gutiérrez Flores." Miriam was one of the first two women to receive this honor.
