The objective of the study is to identify the economic activities with the greatest capacity to generate employment in Costa Rica. Such activities are identified by estimating different indicators such as generation of total and indirect employment and employment-output elasticity. This gives public policy makers more tools to promote economic activity and employment. The study provides forecasts on the potential creation of employment by economic activity, in response to increases in final demand. In addition, the capacity to generate employment of sectors established in special regimes is compared with those of the definitive regime.
