En la edición 35-36 de Economía y Sociedad, los autores de los distintos artículos enfocaron la crisis, teóricamente y desde el punto de vista de sus implicaciones para la economía nacional. En la presente edición (37-38), el énfasis se ha desplazado a las expresiones coyunturales y sectoriales, aunque no se abandona del todo el interés por la comprensión teórica y sistémica de la crisis del capital. Además, en algunos de los artículos, los autores analizan casos donde las tensiones que fuerzan el cambio tienen una manifestación más bien endógena.
