Abstract

O porto de Salvador encontra-se intimamente ligado ao desenvolvimento da economia local e regional, sendo responsável pela integração da economia baiana com os mais diversos territórios, principalmente com a região do Recôncavo/Bahia, que durante muitos anos se beneficiava (e continua) do porto como ponto de exportação dos seus produtos e de importação de outros vindos do exterior ou de outras partes do Brasil. Desde sua gênese, o porto configurou-se como a principal porta de saída e entrada dos produtos para o mercado exterior, revelando-se como importante entreposto de distribuição para os mais diversos mercados.
