History of the Journal
Revista de Historia is a printed and electronic publication of the School of History of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (UNA). The Journal's audience is Central American and Latin American academic personnel, Central American and Latin American studies experts, as well as students and the general public interested in the history of Costa Rica, Central America, and Latin America. This publication was born in the School of History of the UNA in 1975. It was published jointly with the Center for Historical Research of the Universidad de Costa Rica from 1986 to 2012. Currently, it is only edited and published at UNA. Its central objective is to promote the dissemination of research projects that contribute to the development of the historical discipline by the publication of specific studies and the discussion of theoretical and methodological issues that contribute to enriching the work of the historian and other scholars of the social disciplines. For over three decades, Revista de Historia has become a point of reference for Central America’s historiographic development. The Journal is indexed and has international recognition among specialists in history and other social sciences disciplines.
