Abstract

In a highly polarised context that highlights the need to promote citizenship education, teachers are at the same time excluded from the curricular question of what to teach. In this dossier “Memories, Experiences and Teacher Dialogues: Citizenship in Latin American Teaching Practices” reiterates the importance of professional teaching knowledge and, within it, the centrality of personal memory in giving meaning to the problems that affect society and that should be discussed with students. By bringing together the theoretical reflections of teachers from different Latin American countries on the basis of experience, we contribute to a trans-border perspective on the treatment of these issues.
