Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Regarding the use of AI, the Perspectivas Rurales, Nueva Época journal, adheres to the Heredia Declaration: Principles on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Publishing(https://doi.org/10.15359/ree.28-S.19967), the APA policy on AI use (https://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/resources/publishing-policies?tab=3), and is regulated by the institutional provisions (UNA-VI-DISC-003-2024) of the National University, Costa Rica (https://agd.una.ac.cr/share/s/YVG2p76jQ6CGVV9A8tlpag).

 

Quick Guidelines Related to the Submission Process

 

  1. AI cannot be considered an author or co-author.
  2. The use of AI does not exempt authors from their responsibilities, such as respecting copyright or third-party rights, commercial rights, national and international laws, ethical and bioethical standards, and human rights. Additionally, it is strictly prohibited to fabricate information, use discriminatory language, create or promote social or gender gaps, or handle sensitive information without express authorization.
  3. The use of AI must be explicitly declared, including dates, mode of use, queries employed, texts developed, data, and other relevant aspects. Explicit citation is required where applicable.
  4. All use of AI must be supervised by the authors, who must refine, curate, and filter the information to demonstrate its validity.
  5. In case of discrepancies regarding the spirit of AI use as expressed in this document and the aforementioned documents, the Rural Perspectives Journal, New Era, reserves the right to decline a submission for review or to stop and terminate a work in process. For already published works, retraction mechanisms and other actions deemed appropriate by the Editorial Director may be employed, without appeal processes.
