In this publication Guillermo Zúñiga Chaves narrates, from an economic history point of view, the experiences of his management as the head of the Ministry of Finance during the Arias Sánchez administration (2010-2006). Based on official data and the reports of his effort, the aim is to share findings on the history of recent economic policy, with the purpose of obtaining lessons that allow us to face similar situations that may arise in the future. These reflections were the central input of the inaugural class of the Third Quarter, 2023, of the Programa de Posgrados from the International Center for Economic Policy, Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica
