Abstract

This paper reviews some arguments against the possibility of consider non-human animals as moral subjects. Some of these arguments states that humans are not animals or that a non-human animal doesn’t have a “soul”, a capacity of reasoning and language or even feelings like pleasure or physical pain. The paper establishes that non-humans animals are moral subjects in a restricted sense and that they must be treated with dignity and respect.
