About the Journal
FOCUS AND SCOPE
Respaldo is a publication of the School of Professional secretariat of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which had its first publication in printed form in the years 2008 and 2009. At present, it opens its threshold of digital form from the year 2016, for the meeting of the International scientific communities interested in the reproduction and diffusion of the social knowledge. Its objective is to disseminate academic and scientific production as well as to promote reflection in the fields of office administration and Commercial Education at national and international level with a permanent feedback for analysis, discussion and reflection on topics of interest in the field of work developed by the school of Professional secretariat.
It is aimed at teachers, researchers and students who make up the field of office administration and Commercial education as well as the general public interested in these areas.
Publication frequency
The periodicity of the International journal in Office administration and commercial Education is biannual, the first issue is from 1 January to 30 June and the second issue from 1 July to 31 December.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate free access to its content under the principle of making research free and available to the public, which encourages a greater exchange of global knowledge.

History of the journal
The project to edit the magazine was born with the idea of having a periodic academic publication of a formal, scientific and humanistic nature, with topics specialized in the field of the Secretariat, office administration and Commercial education.
Thus, at the beginning of the year 2006, a first Editorial council was named in the School Aseembly, which would serve for one year, consisting of three academics, the Director and the deputy Director of the Unit; Ana María Fournier Vargas, Ingrid Sánchez Alvarado, Carlos Ulate González; Margarita Vargas Calvo and Herminia Ramírez Alfaro, respectively.
Also, the Strategic Plan 2006 identifies two of the school's strategic objectives that were linked to the project to create a journal of its own, which, based on the mission and vision of the academic unit, establish:
- To promote the reflexive training of students in a way that develops the capacity to respond proactively to the needs of society.
- To encourage the processes of learning, training and updating for teaching, research, extension and academic production in response to a comprehensive and innovative education.
The foregoing justifies the creation of a participatory, critical and reflective editorial space to share and improve the pedagogical expectations of research and extension in the curricular lines offered by the Universidad Nacional to enhance the Academic intellectual production.
This journal becomes a means of feedback and a didactic and formative support, both in the commercial education as in the Secretariat and the administration of offices, responding to the demand of the different competencies, skills and abilities in the Professional performance.
Its name was proposed by Dr. Leonardo Salas Quirós, and approved by the Assembly of Unity on November 28, 2007, through a participatory process, as indicated by Salas Quirós (2008): rESPALDO
In addition to its graphic meaning, the name Respaldo is given to the new Journal of the School of Professional Secretarial (ESP) as a means to reflect the support, complement and assistance that has its training in the management of offices and teachers. Therefore, Respaldo comes not only to open a space for research and information in fields of the functional areas of the organization and its processes, but also in the needs of the commercial and secretarial area linked to the educational processes.
The journal Respaldo with ISSN 1659-3464 published its first volume, in printed form, in 2008. It refers to the origin and evolution of the office and the impact on the Secretariat's occupational profile. It also provides the guidelines for the elaboration of final graduation reports.
In 2009, Volume 2 is devoted to the dissemination of projects carried out by the professional secretarial school.
Due to circumstances beyond the academic unit, it is difficult to publish new editions and it is from the year 2016 that it is projected to edit the journal Respaldo in electronic format, with ISSN 2215-4345, modifying its name by:
