Análise da forma do otólito como uma ferramenta para a discriminação populacional do estoque da cocoroca (Haemulon plumieri) na costa norte da Peninsula de Yucatán, México

Resumo

Neste estudo, a estrutura da população da cocoroca (Haemulon plumieri) da costa norte da Península de Yucatán foi determinada através da análise da forma do otólito, sobre a base das amostras recolhidas em três localidades: Celestún (N 20°49’, W 90°25’), Dzilam (N 21°23’, W 88°54’) e Cancun (N 21° 21', O 86° 52'). A análise do contorno dos otólitos baseou-se nos descritores elípticos de Fourier, cujo enfoque indicou que a população de H. plumieri na costa norte da Península de Yucatán está composta ao menos de três unidades delimitadas geograficamente (Celestún, Dzilam e Cancun). Observaram-se diferenças significativas na forma do otólito entre todas as amostras (PERMANOVA, F2, 99 = 11.20, P = 0.0002) e as comparações por pares posteriores indicaram que todas as amostras foram significativamente diferentes umas das outras. Ao parecer, as amostras não pertencem a uma única população, e os resultados sugerem que poderia representar uma população bem estruturada ao longo da costa norte da Península de Yucatán.
