Abstract

Article discusses the concept of consent to be bound by a treaty, under the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties. This legal category is studied inside of one of the most controversial cases in resent Costa Rica history: the Italian debt, which was settled by means of an arbitral commission in 1998. In addiction, from primary source, it reconstructs the political events connected with the negotiation and execution of the Italian loan.
