Abstract

This article approaches the problem of freedom of expression from the viewpoint of different perspectives of political philosophy that have problematized the issue. What can we understand by the concept of freedom of expression? How has such concept been understood by political philosophy and other relevant perspectives? Those are the questions that provoke us in this article. Besides that, the questions of political control of media and the production of public opinion are introduced with the purpose of analyzing which mechanisms of persuasion can be utilized by mass media operators not just in the construction of public opinion but also as an impediment for the full exercise of freedom of expression.
