Se presenta una clasificación macroscópica de los papilomas en sus diferentes lugares de presentación, así como la descripción de la histopatología correspondiente a cada grupo. Se da tres tipos básicos y se menciona los tejidos u órganos más afectados.
Dicha clasificación se realiza sobre la base de observaciones a campo de las formas más frecuentes y sobre el estudio de dos casos colectivos de papilomatosis en diferentes hatos de regiones dedicadas a la explotación lechera en Costa Rica.
