In 12 of the 97 dogs canines only ticks of the Amblyomma genus were recovead, and one case presented a mixed infestation with Rhipicephalus sanguineus and A. cajennense. The rest of the infested dogs were single infested with Rhipicephalus sanguineus. Significant differences were not found in relation to place, time of the year or specific stages. Among the identified significant differences between months, however, in the months of May, June and September there were greater amounts of ticks and greater amount of infested dogs with R. sanguineus.
